Provision for Tomorrow

What if I told you that some of the suffering you’re experiencing could have been prevented?

I know that’s a hard statement, but stay with me.

Sometimes we’re praying for God to deliver us from something that may actually be the consequence of our delayed obedience.

When you suddenly got laid off… when your spouse left… when the car broke down and the house needed repairs all at the same time—could the thing God told you to build have been part of your safety net?

Could the dream have been the strategy?

Could the vision have been the resource?

Could the instruction you kept putting off have been God preparing you for something you couldn’t see coming?

Sometimes God will tell us to build something before we understand why we need it.

But instead of giving Him our yes, we say, “I’ll do it when I’m ready.”“I need more clarity.”“I don’t have enough money yet.”“I don’t know how it’s going to work.”“I’ll start when life settles down.”

But what if God was trying to prepare you BEFORE life changed?

Had you given God your yes when He first spoke… had you put your hands to the plow even without having the entire vision… had you started building while you were still trying to understand how everything was going to work…

Could your obedience have mitigated some of your suffering?

We’ve become so comfortable with delayed obedience that sometimes we don’t even make the connection between what God told us to do and what we’re experiencing now.

And no, I’m not saying every hardship is the result of disobedience. Scripture makes it clear that obedient people suffer too.

But I AM saying we have to become mature enough to ask ourselves:

“Did God already give me an instruction that would have prepared me for this?”

Because sometimes what we’re calling a dream was actually God’s strategy.

Sometimes what we’re calling a vision was actually His provision.

And sometimes the instruction you keep postponing is God preparing you for a future you haven’t seen yet.

Your obedience today may be God’s provision for tomorrow.

Building,

Erika Michelle
